Meeting through representatives of Confederation of Trade Unions of Albania (KSSH) and adviser company LAWRENCE WEBB, Adviser Company for the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline Project (TAP) for Albania

In Tirana, on 18 January 2012 at the headquarter of Confederation of Trade Unions of Albania (KSSH) was hold on a meeting through representatives of Confederation of Trade Unions of Albania (KSSH) and adviser company LAWRENCE WEBB, Adviser Company for the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline Project (TAP) for Albania

In the meeting took part from KSSH, Mr. Kol Nikollaj, President of KSSH, Mr. Edison Hoxha, responsible for the KSSH legal matters and from TAP its representatives Mr. Paul Lawrence and Mr. Bledi Çela.

TAP Project is expected to be the biggest foreign investment in Albania that will bring the gas from Azerbaijan in west Europe through Albania and Adriatic Sea.   

The meeting was concentrated at social impact that this project can bring during its implementation.

More concretely was discussed for:

• The possibility of the maximal guarantee of the employees rights and obligations and other categories involved, especially the rights of special categories within them, as are women, youth, minorities, etc.
• Short-term and flexible Agreements - the possibilities that Albanian Legislations gives and problems that Trade Unions has in their implementations.
• The possibility of maximal guarantee of health and safety at work places for the employees that will be part of this investment.
• How can be guaranteed and implemented the employee’s rights and obligations not only from the TAP Company but also from the sub-contractuals during the implementation of the project. 
• The guarantees that the Albanian Legislation gives on adjustments of labour relations and the capacities of Albanian Institutions which execute the law regarding this case.
• In this meeting was emphasized that the standards necessary to achieve in this project are not only the highest in Albanian Legislation rang, but also of European Standards.
• KSSH in the framework of the continuous partnerity and collaboration has suggested taking in consideration the possibility of a Collaboration Memorandum through KSSH and TAP, with the goal the continuous discussion for different problems that can come out during the implementation of the project and that has to do with the field of trade unions activity.

The meeting was hold in the framework of reciprocal understanding regarding the issues discussed.
